Transnational Scientific and Educational UNIFEL Center for Advanced Methods of Materials Research

The purpose of research is to develop new methods of studying the structure and functional properties of nanosystems with high spatial, energy and time resolution using a set of methods, including X-ray Free Electron Laser (european and other facilities of XFEL).

 

  1.      Development of methods for diagnostic and study defects in crystal structure of bulk crystals and epitaxial multilayer structures based on wide bandgap semiconductor materials (silicon carbide, gallium oxide, gallium nitride);
  2.      Development of methods for diagnostic and study of structure of electron spectrum and physical properties of the grain boundaries in graphene structures formed on different substrates. Studying methods of functionalization of graphene nanosystems.
  3.      Development of methods for diagnostic and study of structure of electron spectrum and physical properties of metallic, hybrid and oxide nanoparticles, nanowires, nano-layers and coatings on their basis;
  4.      Development of methods for diagnostic and study of effects of interface magnetism for metal atoms in nanosystems, based on diamond and metal nanoparticles. This study aimed at solving fundamental scientific objective - establishing the nature of the magnetic phase transitions in metals in the two-dimensional case. Planned experimental study of the structural and magnetic properties of a wide class of magnetic nanosystems: island films of metals and non-magnetic carbon nanoparticles coated with metal ions.
  5.      Development of methods for diagnostic and study of structural transitions in magnetic, including materials derived from transition metals.
  6.      Development of methods for diagnostic and study of electronic and atomic structure of materials obtained on the basis biological and organic systems with the inclusion of metallic and oxide components.
